2014 Harlem Valley Chamber Monthly Meeting

November 6, Thursday — Join us for an evening with invited speaker, Lydia Higginson, Deputy Director of Dutchess County Tourism.  Lydia will speak about the economic impact of tourism on dutchess county, what DCT does specifically for the Eastern part of the county, and what DCT can do for tourism related businesses (e.g., hotels, restaurants, attractions, outdoors).  She will also speak about the Farm Fresh program!

Lydia HigginsonLydia Higginson joined the staff of Dutchess County Tourism (DCT) as the community relations manager in 2007 and in 2008 was promoted to Deputy Director. Lydia develops programs to attract events, meetings and business conferences to the area. She educates and informs businesses, organizations and the community about the accomplishments, programs and economic impact of tourism. Her duties also include planning promotions and events. She plays an active role in the community and works with civic leaders and tourism businesses to develop and maintain tourism in the area.

In addition, she has served on Cornell Cooperative of Dutchess County & Arts Mid-Hudson’s board of directors, and is currently an advisor to the Taste of NY Todd Hill store, Vassar Powerhouse Theater, Vassar Farm Project, Events Committee for Arts  Mid-Hudson, and serves on the board of Mill Street Loft Arts.

Prior to working at Dutchess County Tourism, she held positions as the director of development at Locust Grove, The Samuel Morse Historic Site and account representative for the Taconic Newspapers’ Hudson Valley Guide. Lydia is a graduate of Bucknell University.

Dutchess County Tourism (DCT) was established in 1984. A destination marketing organization, it brings tourism dollars to area businesses by marketing and promoting the assets of Dutchess County to the nation and the world. The DCTPA is a division of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation and is funded by the County of Dutchess.
